Multivariable-Adjusted Spline Modeling the Relationships of Ejection Fraction With the Risk of New-Onset HF A continuous relationship was seen between left ventricular (LV) ejection fraction and the outcome of heart failure (HF). The result of a test of nonlinearity was nonsignificant (p = 0.11). The spline was adjusted for age, sex, body mass index, baseline cardiovascular disease, smoking, diabetes, systolic blood pressure, and history of antihypertensive therapy. Knots were placed at the 1, 25, 50, and 75th percentile of LV ejection fraction. HR = hazard ratio; Ln = natural logarithm.
