Figure 1 Percentage of pneumococcal isolates with reduced susceptibility to penicillin (MIC ≤0.12 mg/L) in Malmöhus County, southern Sweden, and all Sweden in 1994–97. The data derive from a survey of the resistance of approximately 3000 strains of Streptococcus pyogenes, Haemophilus influenzae and S. pneumoniae to a number of commonly used antibiotics, performed each year by The Swedish Reference Group for Antibiotics (SRGA) [8].
