1 Slacklining By Michael Trahin

2 What is slacklining? Slacklining refers to the act of walking or balancing along a suspended length of flat webbing that is tensioned between two anchors. Slacklining is similar to slack rope walking and tightrope walking. While rope walking has been around in one manner or another for thousands of years, the origins of modern-day slacklining began in the late 1970’s. A rock climber named Adam Grosowsky was an early pioneer of slacklining and is considered by those in the slackline community to be the person who conceived of the activity.

8 It can be Done Anywhere Slacklining is a versatile sport in that it can be done almost anywhere. Notably, many slackliners enjoy their activity in nature. For example, a slackline can be setup in a forest, between mountain peaks, or even over bodies of water. But, for those who are unable to travel to scenic destinations, it is possible to slackline at a local community park, even if it's in the city. For urban environments specifically, most rock climbing gymnasiums include slacklines to allow enthusiasts a safe space to practice.
