1. SEPTEMBER KINDERGARTEN TEAM NEWS A Week of 9/18-9/22 Parent Info:
Thank you for the baby pictures. If you did not send one in please do, as we will be doing a project this week with them. I will copy them and return the originals to you this week. Please be sure to go over the sight words with your child daily. Ask then to read them to you and see if they can spell them also.
This week we will be working on...
Reading/Phonics: During readers workshop this week we will be learning how to point to the words on the page and the direction to read (top to bottom and left to right). We will also practice sweeping to the next line. We have started discussing rhyming words and will continue to work on this during the next few weeks.
Math: We are continuing with Topic 1. We are counting 1-5. Please practice writing the numbers with your student at home. We will be having a test at the end of next week on Topic 1.
Writing: We will continue to work on our names. We will also be working on drawing and coloring. This is important as it is the first stage of writing.
HWT: We will be working on the proper formation of the upper letter E.
SS/Science: We will continue our All About Me unit. We will also begin to talk about Johnny Appleseed.
Special Happenings:
Meet the teacher night will be Tuesday the 26th at 6:00. I look forward to seeing you then.
