Key Achievements Inaugural meeting of LIS Steering Group held
External capacity and capability engaged to support Evidence Base phase – Amion Consulting Open call for views/evidence issued – closes mid-May Initial headline analysis compiled Agreed key stakeholders for Evidence Base collation Tender spec issued – support for business engagement phase Met with GFirst LEP to identify collaboration opps

Next Steps Activities Agree Independent Panel members and agree dates / approach Spin-out LIS SG meetings held to deep-dive on data Develop tender spec requirements for next phase support – development of final product (includes market engagement piece to understand lack of take-up last time) Collate views / evidence from WLEP’s Open Call Amion to commence key stakeholder engagement Meet with The Marches LEP to identify collaboration opps Agree and prepare business engagement piece for May

Key Risks / Challenges Capacity from central government to support all LEPs recognising national landscape Capacity of WLEP – partial receipt of additional capacity funding from central government Availability of analytical skills and capacity to review Evidence Base – mitigated through external support Competing priorities – implementation of LEP Review recommendations e.g. Legal personality, LEP Delivery Plan, Local Assurance Framework, Inward Investment, Sustainability of BetaDen, APR recommendations, 5G sustainability, existing LGF programme etc.
