Conflict comes from every side. Criticism is a common occurrence. Long hours suck life and energy. Fatigue and frustration sets in. No one can live up to all the demands and remain healthy. The intensity, the long hours, the lack of understanding and appreciation by the people served, often bring pastors to a place of despair. Most of the time they work through the thoughts and emotions, but not always. Sometimes they quit, most often leaving and feeling like failures.
Worn out, weary, depressed pastors are not able to help their churches live as light and salt in their communities. Until pastors and the people they serve understand how essential they are to each other, the Church will struggle to accomplish its calling in the world.
