6 Small Changes Make Big Differences
Make half of your child’s plate fruit and vegetables. Focus on whole, dried, or frozen fruits. Vary the type of vegetables. You can choose fresh, frozen, or canned. In order to cut back on sodium and added fat, do not cook vegetables in sauces or glazes . Make half of your grains whole grain. Transition to low fat or fat free dairy. Vary your protein. Lean meats. Try to incorporate fish or shellfish into our child’s diet at least twice a week. Read nutrition labels Avoid high fats, calories, and sodium.

Look up and down. Stores often put their most expensive items at eye level. Store brand items are generally towards the top or bottoms of shelves. Shop sales. Cut coupons Get a member’s reward card. Download digital coupons. Reach! Fresher items are often put in the back. These items won’t expire as quickly, which will save you money. Shop local. Farmer’s Markets are a great place to find fresh produce at a discounted price.
