2 Allegory A type of narrative in which the surface story reflects at least one other meaning. In a continuous allegory, the surface story refers to historical or political events and persons, and maintains the allegorical meaning throughout the narrative.

3 Animal Farm and the Russian Revolution
Your job today is to research the parallels between Orwell’s story and the historical events and people that the author admittedly is representing. A good starting place will be the following links: Learn a bit about the general movement and then specify your search to the political/historical figures and other significant aspects of the revolution from your “What’s in a Name” activity sheet. Identify the character(s) representing each of these figures/aspects and describe why you have chosen each.
