1 Math Honor Society 1st Meeting
Mu Alpha Theta October 21st 2010

2 Requirements Have completed Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry with at least a “B” average. Must participate in 75% or more of math league contests throughout the year (One each month) Have paid new-member fee of $10 & annual dues of $10 to go towards food, speakers, some math contests. Currently enrolled in a math class and maintaining a 3.0 GPA in all math classes.

3 Offerings Field Trips (Cryptography Museum/Science Center)
Guest Speakers Tutoring Services/Math Contests Discussions in Various topics integrating math (Games, Casinos, Nature, Surveys etc.)

4 Election of Officers President (Speak at Induction)
Vice-President (Speak at Induction) Secretary (Minutes, Attendance) Treasurer (Keep track of funds) Elections will take place at the next meeting!

5 Introduction Problems
In a can of tennis balls what would be larger the height of the can or the circumference? (Explain)

6 How many squares are there in a 8 x 8 Checkerboard? In a 11 x 11 grid?
