1 Exposition # 2. Enter his gates with thanksgiving.
Series: Developing a powerful prayer life. Exposition # 2. Enter his gates with thanksgiving. Pastor Yaciel Toledo.

2 Content Type of Prayer I: Praise and Thanksgiving.
Why should we praise God? When, how, and where should I praise Him? Why should I give thanks to God? A story of thanksgiving in the Bible.

3 Type of Prayer I: Praise and Thanksgiving.
The primary ways we give daily adoration and worship to God. To many people, prayer consists mostly of bringing a list of needs and wants to God (more than anything God wants your heartfelt praise and worship). A balanced biblical prayer life requires consistent time in deep praise and thanksgiving to God. We should daily ask God to grow us in effective praise and worship and make adequate space in our prayer time to experience praise and thanksgiving.

4 Why should we praise God?
He is full of glory (Psa 138:5), and great (Psa 145:3), wise and powerful (Dan 2:20). Good (Psalm 107:8), merciful and faithful (Psalm 89:1). For his wondrous works (1 Chr 16:9) and power (Psa 21:13) and righteousness (Psa 35:28). For great is the Lord and greatly to be praised (1 Ch 16:25). He is worthy to be praised (Psa 18:3), and for His awesome name (Psa 99:3).

5 Why should we praise God?
His steadfast love is better than life (Psa 63:3). HIs greatness is unsearchable (Psa 145:3). His majesty is above earth and heaven (Psa 148:13). For he has delivered the life of the needy from the hand of evildoers (Jer 20:13). The earth is full of his praise (Hab 3:3).

6 When, how, and where should I praise Him?
At midnight (Psa 119:62), with an upright heart (Psa 119:7). Seven times a day (Psa 119:164), with my whole heart (Psa 138:1). My lips will pour forth praise (Psa 119:171). Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever (Psa 145:2).

7 When, how, and where should I praise Him?
As long as we live and while I have my being (Psa 146:2). In the assembly of the godly (Psa 149:1). With dancing, trumpet sound, lute and harp, strings, and pipe, sounding cymbals, loud clashing cymbals. Let eveything that has breath praise the Lord! (Psa 150).

8 Why should I give thanks to God?
To give thanks to his Holy Name (Psa 30:4). For He is good and his steadfast love endures forever (1 Ch 16:34). It is a commandment of David the man of God (Neh 12:24). Due to His righteousness (Psa 7:17) and for His wonderful deeds (Psa 9:1). He is our strength and our shield (Ps 28:7). We, His people, the sheep of His pasture, will give thanks forever (Psa 79:13). We give thanks with our whole heart (Psa 86:12).

9 Why should I give thanks to God?
Because it is good to give thanks to the Lord (Psa 92:1). We give thanks in the company of the upright, in the congregation (Psa 111:1). We give thanks among the peoples and nations (Psa 108:3). All the kings of the earth should give Him thanks (Psa 138:4). For the grace that we were given through Jesus Christ (1 Co 1:4). For He has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light (Col 1:12).

10 Why should I give thanks to God?
Col 3:17  And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. 1Th 5:18  give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

11 A story of thanksgiving in the Bible.
Luk 17:11  On the way to Jerusalem he was passing along between Samaria and Galilee. Luk 17:12  And as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance Luk 17:13  and lifted up their voices, saying, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.” Luk 17:14  When he saw them he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went they were cleansed. Luk 17:15  Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice; Luk 17:16  and he fell on his face at Jesus' feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan. Luk 17:17  Then Jesus answered, “Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Luk 17:18  Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?” Luk 17:19  And he said to him, “Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well.”
