It does this through involvement in a green social enterprise which creates and sells innovative home and garden products from discarded items in a supported learning environment.

Over 200 beneficiaries per year across the project Upskilling 500 people a year from disadvantaged backgrounds Working on the construction of a second site in the Gower, with plans to develop a new programme for commercial organisations An award wining social business based in the Gower (Swansea). Based in the Gower, Down to Earth has been delivering training & development programmes for ten years and is fast growing a reputation as an example of best practice for working with people living in challenging circumstances. It has successfully developed and implemented a plan to commercialise its services and also secured a number of public sector contracts. SBW has been involved in supporting this organisation within the following areas: Governance; advice and support re setting up a trading arm to deliver some of their business /commercial activities. Identified growth aspirations are in place and viable business proposal Identified key stakeholders to deliver these growth aspirations are in place Jobs will be created as a result of the support within 2 years Identified distinct trading activity Capacity and skill to deliver Identified clear social objectives A potential client must demonstrate: Evidence/viability of the business growth plans Key stakeholders/personnel within the organisation have the appropriate skills/competencies to help deliver the growth plans. The trading activity i.e. the service s and or products are clearly defined and that there is a viable market for them The organisation can demonstrate that it has at a strategic and operational level the ability to deliver the business growth development/expansion plans. The business has clearly defined social objectives which includes determining how the profits generated by the business activity will be used to support the organisations’ social objectives.
