What is Sanford Harmony?
*Social Emotional Learning curriculum for grades PK-6 *Sanford Harmony was researched and developed by educators at the Denny Sanford School of Social and Family Dynamics at Arizona State University. *Researchers identified practical strategies, stories, activities, and lessons for improving relationships, teaching empathy, increasing student confidence and reducing bullying.

What is included? Kit (all the curriculum material for grade level)

What does the “kit” include?
Grade-specific lesson plan book Storybooks per grade that focus on core themes Games for upper elementary levels Quick Connection cards — Quick Community Builders, Quick Conversations, and Quick Collaborations

What are Meet Ups? (classroom meeting)
build strong classroom communities where students feel connected, comfortable, and ready to learn. students and teachers meet in a circle to greet one another, share ideas and experiences, monitor classroom goals, solve problems, and participate in team-building activities using Harmony Quick Connection Cards. Meet Up is an excellent precursor to restorative practices.

What are Buddy Ups? Buddy Up is designed to create opportunities for students to get to know one another, form connections, and learn together. Students are paired with a different buddy each week and engage with one another in quick and enjoyable activities. Buddy Up gives students opportunities to: Intentionally interact with diverse peers Participate in collaborative conversations Increase caring, kindness and empathy

Identify Harmony teacher leaders I teach the weekly lessons with teachers in classroom Start with baby steps if necessary Meet Ups --- find teachers willing to do this Buddy Ups --- this is an easy implementation with teachers; help in the set up if necessary Communication: Parents, staff, stakeholders Data --- I survey students in class, survey teachers after each unit
