We use Past Continuous when we want to talk about: An interrupted activity An action in on specific time in the past Two activities which were doing at the same time in the past. Examples: She was cleaning the yard when it started to rain. I was playing tennis at 5 yesterday. I was watching TV while he was cooking in the kitchen We use Simple Past when we want to refer to an action we did in the past. We have two types of verbs: regulars (-ed) and irregulars; Negatives (didn’t + verb); questions (did + subject + verb) Examples: Tom played tennis yesterday. Susan bought a new car last Monday She didn’t go to the mall last Saturday. Did you go to the concert last Sunday? Yes, I did.
