Figure 1 The lower eyelid region has been divided into five zones. The lower eyelid is divided horizontally by a line corresponding to the upper edge of the infraorbital rim and vertically by lines delineating inner canthal (1) medial 2/3 lower lid (2,4), lateral third and outer canthal (3,5) areas. A further horizontal line running medially from the upper edge of the caruncle defines the upper edge of area 1.
