Mandate Endorsed by WD in June 2007 Co-leaders DE and COM Three main objectives: Identify best uses of current EU legislation Identify adaptation measures and best practices Strengthen Science/Policy link SSG coordinates climate change activities in CIS In specific groups, targeted climate change activities will continue or will be developed. Activities Bonn workshop 20/21 November: ‘How can climate change impacts be taken into account in river basin management planning’; 70 participants, 2 per MS/organisation. What are the main impacts of climate change on certain regions? What elements of the river basin management plans could be directly impacted Where could climate change have indirect impacts on the water status by changes in water uses such as agriculture, navigation, flood protection, water supply and treatment, electricity and tourism How could negative impacts best be addressed? What distinction will be made between first and following cycles? What knowledge is missing when answering these questions? Particularly MS who are not in SSG are invited to nominate representatives by Friday 9/11/07.
