2. Observations and Inferences
Forensic Science relies on observations, interpretations (inferences) and scientific testing to determine what has happened at a crime scene
Observations are descriptions of the things we sense (see, hear, taste, smell or touch)
Inferences are stories about what happened that are based on the observations
Events that happened in the past are similar to the events that we observe today.
