3. MICS Phase 2: Prototype Development
We need to define the goals of the prototype development effort for the coming 2 years; final decision should be made end of January
Ideally, should prepare the way to MICS phase 3
Three possible directions were mentioned already
Interference testbed
Mobile robots with ranging collaboration with EPFL ENAC
Crypto modulation / authenticated ranging collaboration with MICS Cluster 3 3

4. MICS Phase 3 MICS phase 2 ends October 2009
There will likely be a MICS phase 3
Of a different nature
Make $$$$ value $$$$ out of the research
UWB network is a large project within MICS
Proposal
Produce a coordinated portfolio of patents
Ownership remains with home institution (EPFL, ETHZ, CSEM, HES-SO)
But can be sold / licensed as a package
Requests for funding in MICS phase 3 will be in priority given to groups that
Have contributed to patents
Plan to do more 4
