Brighton Business School Teacher of the Year Award

Criteria: The competition is open to all tutors employed in BBS for the academic year of the nomination period. The process of entry is by nomination. This can be by colleagues or students. There must be two nominations for each entrant. The teacher must agree to be nominated.

Nomination forms will be available online
Nominations should be invited; from students via the BBS on studentcentral, and from staff at Annual Learning and Teaching Conferences and BBS staff pages on studentcentral. The nominations must be submitted in Word form, so that they can be anonymised for the shortlisting process.

The nominations will be judged against each of the following criteria
Displays an active interest in and development of approaches to teaching that influence, motivate and inspire students to learn Demonstrates commitment to and support for the development of students as individuals Uses effective communication skills that engage students in the learning experience Involvement in scholarly activities that have influenced and enhanced learning both of students and colleagues

Launch of the 2017 BBS teacher of the year prize
Nominations open Monday 26th September 2016 (and thereafter, in June each year) Nominations close Friday 16th December 2016 Shortlist announced Tuesday 10th January 2017 Shortlisted candidates are interviewed and observed teaching Feb – April 2017 Winner announced June 2017 Prize awarded at next year’s conference July (?) 2017

Prize £1000 cash prize and trophy
And the winner of the BBS Teacher of the Year prize will, if eligible and with their permission, be nominated for the annual SU Excellence in Teaching awards
