3 Male Reproductive Organs

4 Parts of the Male Reproductive System
What do the Testes do? Sperm production – Male Sex Cell Testosterone production – Male Sex Hormone

5 Parts of the Male Reproductive System
Do you remember the Epididymis? The epididymis is responsible for the maturation of sperm.

6 Male Reproductive Organs

7 Parts of the Male Reproductive System
1. Scrotum – 2. Testes – produce male sex cell – produce male sex hormone –                3. Epididymis –            sac that protects the testes (keeps temp. lower than normal body temp.) male sex glands sperm testosterone coiled structure that stores and matures sperm (sperm “bootcamp”)

8 Male Reproductive Organs

9 Parts of the Male Reproductive System
4. Vas Deferens – 5. Seminal Vesicle – 6. Prostate Gland – 7. Bulbourethral Gland –            connects the epididymis to the urethra (sperm “superhighway”) secretes fluid that mixes with the sperm to make semen produces more fluids for semen produces more fluid to protect semen from acid in urethra

10 Male Reproductive Organs

11 Parts of the Male Reproductive System
8. Urethra – 9. Penis – erection – semen – ejaculation – circumcision –            travels through the penis and releases semen and urine a tube like organ that functions in both sexual reproduction and the elimination of body waste blood fills the penis a mixture of sperm and glandular secretions ejection of semen from the penis removal of foreskin (usually done after birth)

12 Parts of the Male Reproductive System
FUN FACTS! A male usually ejaculates about 2–5mL of semen; each milliliter containing about 50 – 130 million sperm. Bulbourethral fluid also carries some sperm released before ejaculation. This is one of the reasons why the withdrawal method of birth control has a high failure rate.
