Christ, the True Judge of Good Works
Scripture Reading: Pastor Mark will read the description of each of the Churches of Revelation

INTRODUCTION False prophets, apostles, and teachers have entered Christendom and the Church beginning at the end of the 1st century. I John 2:29 gives us a ‘yardstick’ to measure true righteous actions. Christ knows the righteous works of believers throughout church history. He also knows and evaluates the unrighteous works of both true believers and false (professing) believers.

Rev 3:8 Philadelphia Works responding to God-given opportunities Works of keeping Christ’s word of what they should be and do Works of not denying the person of Christ (the God-man) and works (His cross-work and Lordship)

Rev 2:4-5 Ephesus Left their first (purpose, or object of) love Loving members of the Body of Christ They needed to repent and do the first works: loving the members of the Body. Rev 2:15 Pergamus Toleration of those holding the doctrine of the eucharist

Conclusion Know the difference between: Don’t be dissuaded by:
false-profession and true-possession (knowing Christ as Savior) Don’t be dissuaded by: False apostles False prophets False teachers Become more consistent in being spiritual, and demonstrate the love of Christ to one another
