Your Key to Success in Science!!!

2 The importance of a notebook:
Organization!!! A place to record your data/observations that have been made. A way to keep track of what you have done. Future experiments you want to do. Record of any problems/changes. Being organized is key. You need a method of keeping track of what you have done in the lab and so forth. A notebook is the one instrument a scientist always uses.

3 What is an interactive notebook?
An interactive notebook (INB) is your own personalized DIARY of learning about science. A portfolio of your work in ONE convenient spot. This is great for studying for upcoming quizzes & tests A great ORGANIZATIONAL tool that gives you permission to be PLAYFUL AND CREATIVE in your responses without "messing up" your notes.

4 Notebook rules: Don’t rip out any pages or tear any corners
All handouts MUST BE TAPED IN! Should only be used for SCIENCE CLASS and COMES TO CLASS EVERYDAY Each page should have the DATE, PAGE# and TITLE Write ALL entries in the Table of Contents Need to bring to class everyday!!!! DON’T LOSE IT!!!!

8 The LEFT SIDE belongs to me, Ms. Nixon, and therefore should only contain information given or “input” from me. This is the ESSENTIAL information that will DEFINITELY be on a quiz or test. Nothing else should go on this side.

10 The RIGHT SIDE belongs to you. Every right side page gets used! Output exercises: summaries, thinking maps, tables, graphs, word webs, concept maps, diagrams, Venn diagrams, pictures/drawings, brainstorming, poems, quotes, songs, cartoons, thoughts and ideas, BELL WORK.

11 The warm-ups are also placed on the RIGHT side of the notebook. Warm-ups act as a reinforcement of the lesson. Remember, warm-ups are done in the First 5 minutes of each day! Each day of the week you will have a special warm up or BELL WORK. This is due on the Fridays you have me. If you are absent you will get a 0.
