Multiculturalism is all about mixing cultures from different parts of the world and making a new culture that is influenced by all these different traditions. In this chapter, we have learnt that Britain is a multicultural country. Waves of immigration, for example in the 1940’s and 50’s from the West Indies, India and Pakistan have had an impact on the British way of life. Today, the second generation of immigrants feel that they are integrating more easily than their parents. However, it hasn’t been easy for them as they often feel torn between two cultures. In Great Britain, over the past decades, eating habits have obviously changed a lot, since nowadays people in Britain mention Asian dishes among* (parmi) their favourite dishes. They prefer food that is quicker to prepare and has more exotic flavours* (saveurs). Besides, festivals like the Notting Hill Carnival in London which gathers * (rassemble) millions of people is an iconic representation of Britain’s cultural diversity. Finally, there are many artists who use their mixed heritage in their art: poets like Benjamin Zephaniah, and even rock groups like Cornershop or Two Tone
