and VISUAL ARTS CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN Welcome to art class! This semester, you can expect to write about and create art every day! This class takes place in a full-service art room, where you will have access to many fine art materials (which are to be left in my room at the end of each period, each day, so every student has equal access)! Ms. Cinkus (317) 852 – 2386 [ext. 2338] Room F216 ATTENDANCE: Attendance will be taken daily. You should be in your seat when the bell rings, ready to participate and learn. TARDIES: 3  Detention 4-5  Friday School 6  Referral to Administration PASS POLICY: Students are not permitted to use a restroom pass during the first or last 10 minutes of class. Passes will not be given if instructional time is interrupted for a restroom break request. POSITIVE REWARDS: Dog Bucks Outstanding artwork will be on display in any of the following places: Art classroom Hallway Teacher / Corporation website Corporation art show End of Year art show! All grades will cover the Elements and Principles of Art, building on what they have learned each year before. We will have an exciting semester filled with two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) projects, including, but not limited to: Mixed-media/collage Color theory Perspective Clay – slab/coil/pinch/wheel-thrown Observation Still life Landscape/portrait LATE WORK: Turning work in on time is part of being responsible and earning a good grade. Late work will receive an immediate 10% off final grade. MAKE UP WORK: If you have been absent from class, it is your responsibility to find out what you missed. If you missed the first day of a project or demonstration, I will make every effort to get you caught up. You will have time equal to the length of your absence to complete your missed work. If you are absent the day a project is due, you must turn it in the day you return to class. Enter the room in a civilized manner, ready to listen and learn. Listen and be attentive during instruction. Show respect when others are speaking. Be focused and engaged while working. You are responsible for yourself only. Work independently. Be a problem solver; don’t be afraid to experiment! Raise your hand before speaking. Interrupting is not polite or necessary – be mindful. Be respectful to peers, teachers, and property. Treat others how you want to be treated. Stay in your seat unless given permission otherwise. Follow all directions given. Expectations are put in place to keep you safe. Put all supplies in the appropriate place. Always pick up after yourself – throw trash away! Wait to be dismissed by teacher. ENTERING THE CLASS: Enter the room quietly and calmly and go directly to your assigned seat. Failure to do so will result in being asked to re-enter the room the correct way, ready to participate and learn. INSTRUCTIONAL / WORK TIME: Be attentive and respectful during instructional time and personal studio time. CLEAN UP: Clean up steps will be carried out every period, every day. Students with unfinished / messy work stations will be held accountable and not dismissed until supplies and work area are properly cleaned and put away. Verbal warning(s) Parent contact / Seat reassignment Parent contact / Detention Parent contact / Referral Depending on offense, some or all consequences may be given out of order at my discretion. Destruction of others’ property and artwork will result in an automatic referral to the office and a significant grade deduction on student’s own project. We will always follow the Bulldog Matrix 4 B’s! BE KIND – BE RESPONSIBLE – BE RESPECTFUL – BE SAFE Bell Work: 5 points daily Notes: 10 points Rough Drafts: 20 points Quizzes/Tests: points Projects: points Headphones will not be permitted in the classroom. Cell phones are to be put away and only used at teacher’s discretion. It is possible for you to work on your projects and assignments after school on Art Club days for one hour – this must be prearranged. Please sign below and have your parent or guardian sign as well. Cut off the bottom portion on the dotted line and keep the rest of this information in your art folder. Please turn in the signatures by Monday 8/6 (Purple Day) or Tuesday 8/7 (White Day) for 5 points toward your grade. I have read Ms. Cinkus’ Course Syllabus and Classroom Management Plan and will give my best efforts to follow all expectations. I understand all consequences if I do not follow these expectations.
