2. Interesting facts
Baroque started in the 1600’s and ended at the end of the 1700’s.
Baroque movement was encouraged by the Catholic Church.
Baroque was born in Italy, then adopted in France, Germany, Netherlands, and Spain.
The contrast between light and shade was very important.
Painters used elements of art differently in this art movement.. The lines were usually diffused, the color monochromatic and the distance was infinite.

3. More interesting facts
There was new scientific advances during the Baroque time period.
Astronomy became more important and more thing were being found.
The age of Enlightenment became alive as I like to say.
Baroque reflected the growth of monarchy and manifested power.
Baroque painters favored movement, energy, and tension dominant impressions.
They liked to have there painting like real life. Not a painting.

4. Annibale Carracci Born in Bologna, Italy.
When he was 22 he and some family open a studio.
He is bested known for landscaped and portraits like the on you see on the right.

5. Diego Rodriguez de Silva y Velaquez
Born in Spain.
He painted everything from the Royal family to commoners.
King Philip VI sponsored his trip.(To Italy)

6. Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio
He was born in Milan.
He studied painting with Simone Peterzano for four years.
He was one of the founders of Baroque.

7. Johannes Vermeer Born in the Netherlands.
He wasn’t discovered until well over 200 years after his death.
He used a obscura box for accuracy.
He was one of the few artist who was famous in his life time.
                                           

8. Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn
Was a Dutch painter.
He was not only a painter but also a printmaker. (which if u went to the museum you saw some of his work).
After he went to college he stared studying art with Jacob Van Swanenburgh. Which he spent three years with.

11. Conclusion
I chose the Baroque period because I really love the contrast between light and dark.
I also admire how artists began to paint animals and other subjects like dwarfs that weren't seen before the Baroque period.
