P-TECH: Pathways in Technology Early College High School ECHS and P-TECH High Schools are innovative high schools that allow students an opportunity to attend college and earn a high school diploma and 60 college credit hours. 30% of students earn an associate’s or applied associate’s degree or certificate with high school diploma. 94% of students earn transferable college credits. 86% of those that enroll in college continue on to their second year of college, compared to 72% nationally. 4 ECHS AT MARSHALL HS STRUCTURE OF PROGRAM WHY ECHS AT MARSHALL HS
School within a school model Cohorted student groups 100 students per cohort (feeder & district) Program pathway begins in Freshman year WHY ECHS AT MARSHALL HS The experience will create a college-like culture that encourages students to continue their higher education journey. Students will incur no costs for college tuition, books, instructional materials, or certification testing. On January 22nd the board will decide what percentage comes from Marshall high school feeder pattern and outside of the zone.

Free General Associates degree (60 credit hrs.) Saves approximately $51,000 at the University of Texas in Austin Saves approximately $55,000 at Texas A&M University Students achieve core academic coursework that is transferable Soft Skills are taught through AVID vertical alignment. Provides different learning environment for first generation college students and generally high performing students. Offers rigorous instruction and accelerated courses Provide academic and social support services to help students succeed Increases college readiness Reduces barriers to college access. STRUCTURE OF THE PROGRAM School within a school model Student cohorted beginning Freshman year Partnership with industry supporting apprenticeship WHY P-TECH ECHS AT WILLOWRIDGE HS Programming pathway is to not duplicate at any other FBISD HS There is no computer programming option in FBISD Programming needs are in high demand currently in the work force Texas Workforce Commission data states: Texas is 2nd in the United States in employment of computer programmers (Bureau of Labor and Statistics) Dr. Sanders

BENEFIT TO STUDENTS P-TECH stands for Pathway to Technology Students graduate from high school with a 2-year applied associates degree Associates degree is free for students in the program Students also earn workforce industry certifications in a specific technology-related field Industry certifications in Java Coding Real-world work experience: With opportunities to job shadowing, mentoring, and participate in internships After high school, students have the option of going straight into the workforce or continuing on to college and earning their Bachelors degree Dr. Sanders

Associates degree in applied sciences Industry certifications Real-world work experience with engaging courses with hands on activities P-Tech will provide a financial value to families who may not see college as an option. Health Information Technician average salary in Houston, TX, $47,679 per year. Histology Technician average salary in Houston, TX, ranges from $52,386 to $65,191 with the average base salary of $59,197. Dr. Sanders
