“Deacon” (diakonos) means servant or minister (Phil 1:1; 1 Tim 3:8, 13)
“The seven” servants (Acts 6:1-7; 21:8)
Served widows on behalf of the church

He is a peacemaker, filled with love & goodwill

He works “excellently, commendably, honorably, rightly, …no room for blame”
He obtains a good standing or reputation

He will develop greater boldness in the faith

9. A Deacon must be… Faithful to his charge (1 Cor 4:2)
Fulfilling his tasks (Col 4:17)
Serving with the ability God supplies (1 Pet 4:10- 11)

10. Deacons are Servant Leaders
They model servanthood for a community of servants
