2. Elani et al. describe vesicle-based artificial cells with multiple compartments with distinct regions separated from one another by a lipid bilayer. Each step of an enzymatic cascade reaction takes place in a discrete compartment, with the products moving into an adjacent compartment to initiate subsequent reaction steps.
