War was declared on Russia by France and Britain, who moved to help the Turks.

7. September 1854
Battle of the Alma- Prince Menshikov attempted to stop allies (whom outnumbered him) from moving closer.

8. October 1854
Battle of Balaclava- most famous for the “Charge of the Light Brigade”.

9. February 1855
Battle of Eupatoria- Another Russian attempt to intervene, repulsed by the Turks.

10. August 1855
A great deal of Russian defences where destroyed during an Easter bombardment.

11. February-March 1856 A final peace was agreedat the Congress of Paris.
This resulted in the Treaty of Paris.
