1 Credit and Pathways Management Road Ahead Feb – Mar 2018
Prepared by Marian Wolmarans 23 January 2018

2 In this Presentation What is the Credit and Pathways Explorer?
What are the benefits? What is required of me? What is our proposed timeline?

3 What is the Credit and Pathways Explorer

4 Credit and Pathway Explorer (CPE)
TEQSA requires a public searchable repository of available credit that we offer. CPE will enable this repository by optimising on effort already spent by CSU staff and academics. This repository will serve as a self-serve credit enquiry point for public users. What will it do?… The repository will be available to any public user to explore and search all our public precedences, as approved by Course Directors within CPM, as well as our published versions of pathways. How will it work?… The following slides offer the preferred look and feel of CPE.

5 What do our prospects want to see?
What prior learning is required for credit? What CSU course the credit relates to? How much credit they might be eligible for? What does the credit mean in terms of remaining study effort? Next steps to take to have prior learning assessed for credit?

6 Credit and Pathways Explorer Quick Overview of Preferred Look and Feel NOTE: Current version of this feature in QA is not the same to what is presented in this slideshow. The preferred look and feel for this feature are currently under development.

View results after entering prior learning Credit results show as buttons List potential pathways as well as precedences that match entered prior learning Only show result as potential credit as zero, if all prior learning has been assessed as ‘does not transfer’, if not display results as ‘Not yet assessed Apply now’, with hyperlink to online application form Next slide [More info] link to related OCB for CSU course

11 View details of potential credit
Pathway details List details from selected published version of pathway. List selected precedence details of all public precedences that relate to entered prior learning and CSU course. Precedence map Next slide

14 Enter search criteria Search across pathways and precedences
Field of Study search – include logic to search ‘sub-fields of study’ as well Slide 10

View results after entering search criteria Similar to slide 10 List potential pathways as well as precedences that match search criteria Instead of precedence map, each precedence that meet the search criteria will be listed individually. Slide 11 [More info] link to related OCB for CSU course

16 What are the benefits?

17 CPE Benefits Meet TEQSA requirement
Enable self-serve ability to public users Optimise on Course Director effort spent on credit assessments Single point of truth for available credit Consistency in awarding credit One stop shop for marketing of our pathway partners

18 What is required of me?

19 What are the next steps? All precedences within CPM will be used by CPE. For CPE to also list details of our current current credit packages, we have to transpose these into CPM. This will require….. Review and classify current package details according to credit definition summary (slide 21) Interim tool packages FoAE spreadsheet of packages Web content pages with international packages Enter package details into CPM, as per their classifications Approve and publish/make public entered details, to enable CPE to use the information

20 Who will do what? DSA – Credit team CAOs CDs
Enter simple precedences, complex precedences, and pathways into CPM Approve precedences and pathways as per delegation CAOs Review and classify current package details and provide to DSA for data entry (classify according to credit definition summary on next slide) Support CDs in approving and publishing of precedences and pathways as required CDs Review and approve proactive precedences in CPM Review, approve and publish pathways in CPM

21 Credit Definition Summary
Credit awarded based on decision type Final approval of original decision by Can be reused by Review of decision required? Managed in CPM via Equivalency Course Director Course Director only When reused Equivalency Management Precedence Articulated OGEP involvement not required; not formally documented; Other provider/provider group not formally notified of available credit Simple precedence Simple prior learning requirement; Specific credit outcome Delegated Credit Officer / Course Admin Officer / Yes (3 years) / On significant CSU course/subject change?
