Principal Supervision Model Turning Theory Into Action
Long-term Outcomes Principal Supervision Model Turning Theory Into Action Cultural Barriers “This is the way we do things around here.” “This is what I would do.” Leaving Central Office unchanged Standards Best Practices Research Learning from others Vision & Mission Strategic Plan Expertise Organic Development The new model is built around three assumptions. First, there are effective research-based practices that have been shown to support and develop principals as found in the new CCSSO standards. Second, the strategic plan – its LTOs, themes, and initiatives - builds a path for district, school, family, and student success. And finally, that in order to meet the promise of the strategic plan we need to change the way we do business. Specifically, we need to change the way we’ve been supporting schools, we need to develop principals rather than more tightly supervise them, and we need to expect central office functions such as HR, finance, accountability, maintenance and transportation to take a service orientation and customer service approach to schools, rather than a top-down approach.
