Weighing up the Risk Always consider the following
Likelyhood X Severity 1 Unlikely: No injury / minor incident 2 Unlikely: Be aware of this possible risk 3 Quite Likely: May result in a minor injury 4 Quite Likely: May result in injury without strict control measures 5 Very Likely: Could result in a major injury or fatality without strict control measures

Likely hood X Severity Risk worth taking 1 Yes 2 Yes, with caution 3 Yes, with extreme caution 4 Possibly, with extreme caution 5 or above No Likelyhood X Severity 1 Unlikely: No injury / minor incident 2 Unlikely: Be aware of this possible risk 3 Quite Likely: May result in a minor injury 4 Quite Likely: May result in injury without strict control measures 5 Very Likely: Could result in a major injury or fatality without strict control measures

The Risk Process Identify the Area to be Assessed
List the Hazard you can identify Identify the risks and the people at risk Assess the likelihood of an accident happening How severe will the outcome of the accident be Work out the level of risk Is the risk worth taking? What control measures can be put in place to reduce the level of risk of injury Sporting Accidents
