5. THE WITNESSES – John 5:31ff
Jesus summarizes the heart of the matter:
They’re “unwilling.” (verse 40; 5:6; 7:17; Luke 9:24).
They lack the “love of God.” (verse 42; 1 John 2:5; 1 John 5:3; 1 Corinthians 13:1- 3)
Their desire is to please men and not God. (Verses 41, 44; Matthew 6:1, 5, 16; Galatians 1:10; 2 Timothy 2:4)

Jesus and His disciples go through the grain field.
His hungry disciples began to pick and eat the heads of grain. Deuteronomy 23:25
The Pharisees objected: “Look, Your disciples do what is not lawful to do on a Sabbath.”
