1 Week 3 Vocab words and definitions:
Alliteration: It is a stylistic device in which a number of words, having the same first consonant sound, occur close together in a series. Ex: “She sells sea-shells down by the sea-shore” Allusion: a brief and indirect reference to a person, place, thing or idea of historical, cultural, literary or political significance. It does not describe in detail the person or thing to which it refers. It is just a passing comment and the writer expects the reader to possess enough knowledge to spot the allusion and grasp its importance in a text. Ex: “He is such a Romeo” Summary: a brief statement or account of the main points of something. Review: write a critical appraisal of (a book, play, movie, etc.) for publication in a newspaper or magazine. Synonyms: evaluate, assess, appraise, judge, critique, criticize Revise: Fix sequencing, main ideas. Challenge the writer on larger concepts and organization. Edit: Fix punctuation and grammar
