Signs that set speed limits or give commands. These signs must be obeyed.
2 most important regulatory signs are: The Stop Sign
The Yield Sign They both have unique shapes.
All other regulatory signs are either white squares or rectangles with red or
black lettering.

-are found where roadways cross or merge
-slow down and check traffic in front of you and behind you when approaching a yield sign
-always be prepared to stop

Speed Limit Signs
-shows the maximum and sometimes the minimum speed allowed on the roadway
-Speed limits are used to manage traffic flow at safe speeds
-Speed limits are set for ideal driving conditions; you may have to reduce your speed if weather conditions are not ideal.

-Alerts you to hazards or changes in the condition of the road ahead
-Most are diamond shape
-Be prepared to stop when you see a warning sign

11. Roadway Markings Give a warning or direction
They are lines, words, or symbols painted on the roadways
The colors of the markings have certain meanings

12. Single Lines A single yellow broken line separates two-way traffic.
You can pass, but only when no traffic is coming from the opposite direction
A solid yellow line indicates that passing is not allowed

13. Double Lines
Two solid-yellow lines that divide traffic prohibit passing.
A solid and broken lines may be marked on the road. Passing is allowed only if you are traveling on the side with the broken line.

14. White Lane Markings
Broken white lines separate traffic moving in the same direction. You may cross these lanes when changing lanes.
Solid white lines identify where changing lanes is hazardous.
Solid white lines also mark the edge of the roadway.
White arrows in lanes tell you when and where to turn.

19. Sign Project- You will create a Traffic Sign Presentation using google slides
Step 1- look on pages 56-68(IL Rules of the Road). Check off 30 signs w/o the words.
Step 2- Open google slides name the presentation Traffic Signs
Step 3- Start by searching the images in google. For example, locate the stop sign without words
Step 4- Once you locate the image- right click and copy in your first slide. Don’t close the page where you copied your image. YOU MUST locate the URL near the bottom left corner. Copy the url under your image. This is called citing your image. You should change the font size to 9. See sample on next slide.
Step 5- Next to your image, you must indicate the type of sign
and what it means.
