MPO plasma concentrations were stratified into quartiles; values represent estimated marginal means and 95% confidence intervals obtained in a general linear model (ANOVA), adjusted for the use of lipid-lowering drugs and for each of the other factors, whereby age, body mass index, LDL-C, HDL-C, and triglycerides (log transformed), were included as continuous rather than categorial co-variables. Significance is indicated by *(P<0.05), **(P<0.01), and ***(P<0.001) compared to the first MPO quartile.
