YMCA vs USA (AMS) YMCA swimming is the largest youth competitive swimming organization in the united states WPYSL is a swim league within YMCA national USA swimming is open to any team, and has many exclusive meets and events in which a team must be registered. AMS (Allegheny Mountain Swimming) is an exclusive league only for this area under USA

YMCA vs USA (AMS) A YMCA team can swim at USA meets!!!
As long as proper registration and fees are paid RESY is a USA team (RESY-AM) YMCA dual meets do not require meets entry or event entry fees YMCA districts/states/nationals are extremely competitive meets

RESY is an AMS Team Cost to be AMS on top of YMCA Cannot just do AMS
Suggested for veteran swimmers and families The team will be choosing the invites we attend We only compete USA in the winter

WPYSL and seasons Early Registration Western Pennsylvania YMCA swim league Wpysl.org Summer and winter sessions Summer runs from May through July Winter runs from Sep through Feb/March Winter is typically more competitive, with a wider range of events and more dual meets and invitationals Registration - $175 per swimmer

Dual/Tri Meets 5 dual meets, no fee to enter. Volunteer time or concession Limited number of individual and relay entries Summer is 2/2 or 3/1 – champs is 3/2 Winter is 3/2 for duals and champs Events are chosen by coach Scoring and competing based on age: Up to 8 years old – Novice (Class E) 9-10 years old – cadet (Class D) 11-12 years old – prep (Class C) 13-14 years old – junior (Class B) 15 – 18 years old – senior (Class A)

Dual/Tri Meets cont… Locally there are 18 teams in the WPYSL, we are placed into a conference based on team size and geographic region Scoring Individual , Relays 8-4-2 Events Based upon age, complete meet format Swimming up an age bracket

Section Champs Fees to enter Winter – swim a meet with 5 teams for section champs Summer – all teams swim in WPYSL Districts (Winter only) Max events 3/1 or 2/2 Time standard for Class D and up Novice can swim up if desired 3 districts in PA, West, Central and East

States (Winter Only) Fees to enter Automatic top 6 gets entry, 6 at large across state YMCA Nationals (summer and winter) Summer is long course, winter is short course Qualifying times regardless of age

Locker room cellphones 1st time = 1 week 2nd time = 1 month 3rd time = season Hitting in a practice or meet – immediate ejection Continued incidents = more severe consequences We want to keep everyone safe
