10 EXPECTATIONS FOR MATH CLASS
We will cover general math concepts. We will be focusing on problem solving skills and strategies. As usual we will be concentrating on number sense, pre-algebra, geometry and measurement as well. Students will likely have homework every night. We usually have a few minutes to work on homework during class time. This gives the students the opportunity to have my help while they get started. Students will also have a weekly worksheet each week, given Wednesday and due the following Wednesday. Also, Target Math will be given on Mondays and due Fridays. Show Work, UPS check, P. Solving. Textbook website: On-line

11 Communication Responsibility Card (They can show you this every day)
The Bolin Website is great for information. My personal teacher page is also very helpful in keeping up with the math class. 6th grade schedule Upcoming events Calendar of events including assignments and upcoming tests/projects How to access textbook on-line How to reach the teacher Curriculum PowerPoints will be on the 6th grade website Responsibility Card (They can show you this every day) Good visual reminder and it keeps them constantly aware of what is expected. Academic/Behavior Punches Please read the back of the card and sign it each Tuesday.

12 HOMEWORK, QUIZZES AND TESTS FOR ALL MATH STUDENTS
Homework and Daily work are worth 60% of your student’s grade. Students are able to redo homework or quizzes for a better grade. These papers will be returned in the Tuesday folder and will be expected to be corrected and returned by Thursday. Expect Math homework EVERY NIGHT. Tests, Quizzes and Projects are worth 40% of your student’s grade. If your child makes below a 70% on a test, they are able to correct all their mistakes for up to a 70%. These tests should be signed and must be corrected on separate paper showing all work. Students will have 2 days to correct these tests. The TWO lowest daily grades will be dropped each nine weeks. Students will receive a review sheet each night before a test. This is a completion grade and should really help them prepare for a test.

13 TUTORING AND EXTRA HELP
Tutoring will be offered on Tuesday mornings from 7:25- 7:55 for math students who are at-risk of failing STAAR and not receiving services from SSI team. We will focus on the STAAR objectives. If your student needs help with a few homework problems from the night before or the weekly worksheet, they should come during advisory to ask questions. Special arrangements for after school help can be made. Homework Club on Tuesdays
