Finding a Fit A Fit is 8+ cards in one suit between the two hands If there is a fit in a major suit, then this will be the trump suit If there is no fit, then choose No Trumps

Basic Rules for Responders bids You must have enough High Card Points 6 or more ½ the amount of points you need to open

Limit Bids by Responder Support partners suit Bid No Trumps … this is the bid of last resort These are limit bids … they are NOT FORCING

New Suit Bids by Responder Bid your own suit at the one level if you can OR With 10 + points AND 5+ cards in the suit, bid your own suit at the two level These bids are unlimited … … they are FORCING … partner MUST bid again

Partner Opens 1 … what do you bid No fit in hearts, with 6+ points Bid 1 … bid own suit at 1 level

Partner Opens 1 … what do you bid No fit in hearts, with 10+ points Bid 2 … bid own suit at 2 level

Partner Opens 1 … what do you bid Cannot bid own suit at 1 level Not enough points to bid at the 2 level MUST bid 1NT … the bid of last resort No fit in hearts
