New blood culture media bottles (BacT/Alert Plus) were introduced in Sweden in 2013, but there were difficulties in supply for the first year. It has been estimated that laboratories used 50% of BacT/Alert Standard and 50% of BacT/Alert Plus culture bottles for the year 2013.
