More than 500 car per 1000 person Every second person have one Different reasons Tallinna põhimääruse § 77 lg 1 kohaselt on Tallinna kui kohaliku omavalitsuse ülesanne tagada linlastele tervislik ja meeldiv elukeskkond ning majanduse arenguks vajalikud ressursid looduskeskkonda oluliselt kahjustamata ning looduslikku mitmekesisust säilitades.

3 Free Public Transport Favour Public Transport as alternative to using car (last year study showed 34,6% use their personal car driving work) Tallinn (Environmental Department) has organized car free days (22.october) during international mobility week since 2001. Tallinn decided to organize free public transport on car free day

4 Free Public transport From last year (2012) Tallinn organize sustainable mobility month (September), free public transport privilege was given marathon participations and car owners who had car registration Sustainable Mobility Month will be annual to favour public transportation, walking, cycling

5 Free public transport Local transport has important role and impact on city environment as well as to become European Green Capital Air quality (Ambient air quality) – less polluting transport Noise (Quality of the acoustic environment) – less transport

6 Free Public Transport Green urban areas incorporating sustainable land use – less pressure on green areas, especially in apartment house areas with lack of parking lots, more space for pedestrians Climate Change: mitigation and adaptation Reduction of CO2 emissions (due to reduction in car transport) could be tons per year

Air quality action plan (2007) Focuses mainly on PM10 reduction Regulation – less than 35 days per year 50 micrograms/m3 Conclusions and recommendations Favour public transport, especially in city centre Traffic tax in city centre Watering streets with CaCl2 dilution in spring time Limitation for studded tire usage period Estonian Road Administration (state company that is responsible for maintenance in state) reccomends sdudded tires outside cities.
