MGSE7.G Solve real‐world and mathematical problems involving area, volume and surface area of two‐ and three‐dimensional objects composed of triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, cubes, and right prisms.
3
Unit 4 : Students will learn to draw geometric figures using rulers and protractors with emphasis on triangles. Students will explore two-dimensional cross sections of cylinders, cones, pyramids, and prisms.
4
Unit 4 :Their knowledge from 6th grade will help when they are learning to write and solve equations involving angle relationships and when solving engaging problems that require determining the area, volume, and surface area of fundamental solid figures. This unit also requires students to know and use the formula for the circumference and area of a circle.
5
Learning goal #1: Students will review (identify and define) different two – and three-dimensional objects. Triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons, cubes, and right prisms.
6
Learning goal #2: Students will solve real-world mathematical problems involving area, volume, and surface area.

Instructional Activities:
Teacher will demonstrate how to find the surface area and volume of a prism. Students will practice identifying, and solving the surface area and volume of prisms. Students will watch two videos: - Surface Area - MathHelp.com - Math Help - Math Antics – Volume Students will practice solving surface area and volume from (Math-Aids) worksheets.
