7 Make a Schedule Step One: Decide the order in which you should study.
(Things to consider: timeline, grades) Step Two: Approximate how much time you will need to spend studying for each final. Step Three: Mark a calendar with available times to study. Step Four: Fill in your slots with names of classes.

8 Make some time Be realistic about when and for how long you can study.
Consult with your parents about family time commitments. Consider your sports, clubs, job, etc. Mornings, lunch periods, right after school, evenings, and weekends Social life might have to be put on hold.

9 Where to study? Somewhere in your house Media Center Public Library
Starbucks Paradise Grill Friend’s house Classroom

10 Study Materials Notes Graded papers Textbook Other papers Study Guide
Notecards Pens, pencils, highlighters

11 What to DO! Locate study guide – highlight areas of concern
What if I did not get a study guide? Try to make your own by going through your textbook, notes and graded papers. Try looking back at the teacher’s blog. Make a list of units, and then add details about each unit. Organize notes – highlight important info Read over graded papers - highlight Skim through textbook

12 NOTECARDS! Topic on one side, info on the other side
Question on one side, answer on the other side Word/Term on one side, definition on the other side Picture on one side, info on the other side See the pattern? You can color code them! (by subject, difficulty, etc.) Sort them in different ways! (by class, urgency, etc.) They are portable!

13 Some “Don’ts”! Wait until the night before the final and try to “cram”
Re-read every word of your textbook Study with someone who will distract you Make any drastic changes to your diet, sleeping pattern, exercise routine, medication, etc. Ignore a study guide, review session, blog posting Kiss, drink after, share germs with people who are sick!

14 Some Do’s! Get plenty of sleep!
Eat, stay hydrated, take good care of yourself! Take breaks while studying! Reward yourself! Choose study partners wisely! Choose study location wisely! Make a plan! Stick to your plan!

15 The Day of the Final Dress comfortably, in layers. You want options if the room is too hot or too cold. No one is trying to be cute during Finals! EAT BREAKFAST! There are mountains of research that teenagers perform better after eating breakfast. Supplies: #2 pencil, black pen, paper, etc. Emergency supplies: water, cough drops, tissues, gum, etc. Focus!
