The horizontal line in the middle of the box is the median value of the scores and the lower and upper boundaries indicate the 25th and 75th percentiles, respectively. The box plot also displays outliers, articles with values more than 1.5 box-lengths from the lower edge of the box are designated with a circle. The largest and smallest observed values that are not outliers are also shown; lines (whiskers) are drawn from the ends of the box to those values.
