2 WHAT DO I NEED TO GRADUATE
30 Credits compulsory Everything you need to complete in order to graduate. There are 3 major parts to earning an OSSD – first is your academic requirements The government is in the process of making some changes to the diploma requirements but the number of credits will remain at 30 with 18 compulsory credits. Some courses which are now elective may be included as compulsory.

3 MORE GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT Must complete 40 hours while in high school LITERACY REQUIREMENT Must successfully complete either the grade 10 literacy test written in March of grade 10 or the grade 12 Literacy course 2 additional requirements to graduate – community involvement Strongly recommend that students attempt to complete their 40 hours before the beginning of grade 11. Don’t forget to bring in your completed forma Must also successfully complete the literacy requirement Get your hours in early – Due before June 1, 2019

4 Your Responsibility It is your responsibility to know if you have the requirements to graduate and the requirements for post secondary. You will find that throughout this process you are taking responsibility for your future.

Not one is more important than the other, thererore, not one deserves more planning than the others. Research is vital to success in any post-secondary option. Even travelling. 7 COLLEGE Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Bachelor Programs(1-4 years) Admission based on prerequisites plus gr. 11 and 12 courses C, M, U, O courses accepted – not “E” Please note OLC course doesn’t count as 4th English for post-secondary but it does for an OSSD. Apply to OCAS (ontariocolleges.ca) by  Feb 1, 2019

We live in a society that prefers to communicate electronically, however, the informal nature of electronic communication can be a problem. Universities, colleges are businesses. Much the same as a job interview, you are being evaluated. Your address can be a reflection of you and the seriousness at which you are taking the process. Also, check your junk box, s from OUAC and OCAS can be directed to junk

18 UNIVERSITY INFORMATION PROGRAM (UIP)
When: November 8th, 2018 Time: 12:30 pm Where: All students are invited to start in the auditorium. We will then move to Gymnasiums after instructions have been given. Each university will be represented in the Gymnasiums by a liaison at a table. No individual presentations will be made, Liaisons are available for individual questions. Do your research first!!! All of the universities in Ontario will have a liaison present to answer questions and hand out promotional materials. Great chance to talk with Universities that do not visit the school otherwise

January 16th, 2019 Deadline for Ontario high school students to submit their completed application to the OUAC. June 1st, 2019 The earliest date an Ontario high school student may be required to respond to an Ontario university offer of admission and give a financial commitment (e.g., registration deposit, residence deposit, etc.). These dates have been set out and agreed upon by guidance counsellors, the Ontario universities and the OUAC. Individual secondary schools may have additional internal deadline dates to which they wish students to adhere. Students should not wait until the last minute to submit their on-line applications—internet connections may be interrupted as the deadline date approaches. January 12 is the last date for equal consideration for programs; applications will still be accepted after this date but some programs may no longer be available.
