6. What is the Articles of the Confederation
The Articles of the Confederation was America’s first attempt at a government.
They were written in 1776.

7. What is a Confederation?
Confederation- a group of individual state governments banding together for a common purpose.
Their common purpose was a single, strong army.

8. What Fears that shaped the Articles?
The colonists were afraid of a strong national government.
A strong national government would have too much power, and be like the king.
Smaller states being dominated by the larger states.

Each state was independent and had its own government and constitution
(Afraid of too much power)
Each state would send representatives to “Congress of the Confederation”
The Congress (Legislature) was the government and the 1 branch
