People have often worked together to collect and save the world’s art treasures. Fine art treasure from many countries are kept in an art museum called the Louvre in Paris, France. It began as a fortress on the outskirt of Paris in The French King Auguste decided to build defensive walls around the city of Paris. The Louvre was the western bulwark of those walls. During days of war, many treasure were stolen, and the building were damaged. When Francis I became King of France in 1515, he brought in artists from many countries. Da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa” is the best-known painting in the museum to day In 1793, the Louvre became public museum, just as it is now.
