3 Project Aims To provide young people with an opportunity to experience and try African drumming and to recognise the achievements of local community costumed groups participation in Huddersfield Carnival parade with trophy presentations. HACCT

8 COMMUNITY & ATMOSPHERE
The Huddersfield Carnival creates a unique cultural atmosphere that over the years has adopted traditions from the various different groups that take part in the event. This atmosphere is a big pulling factor for many attendees. HACCT

9 250 people watched performances at the Hudawi Centre
30 children and adults participated in African drumming, dance and storytelling sessions. 5 local groups received trophy awards for their participation in the carnival parade. 90 young people and adults in 2 local groups received support to purchase costume materials. 250 people watched performances at the Hudawi Centre 10,000 people watched the carnival parade from the Hudawi centre to Huddersfield town centre. 10 KEY OUTCOMES Children and young people had an opportunity to learn about the traditions learning African Drumming supported by professional drummers. Local groups had the opportunity to learn dance performance skills to enhance their carnival costumes supported by dance tutors. Each participating group were provided with an opportunity to showcase their art to an audience of 250 people on Carnival day finale celebrations at the Hudawi Centre  On carnival day, there were awards for each participating group in the carnival parade with an opportunity to show the costumes produced. 1 local groups were supported to purchase materials for their costumes.   HACCT
