Understanding Welfare
There are two options for welfare arrangements that the Department of Home Affairs consider appropriate for an under-18 student applying for a student visa. Option 1: Student will be living with an approved relative who lives in Australia, or an approved relative will travel to Australia and live with the student. Option 2: Student will not be staying with a relative, so RMIT approve welfare arrangements and issue a CAAW (Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare). RMIT provides welfare by ensuring the use of an approved caregiver and ensuring you live in an RMIT approved accommodation option. + + A safe place to live Emotional and practical support person University oversight + student wellbeing services

The accommodation provider is not approved to take RMIT U-18 students The Under-18 student is in a mixed gender apartment. If a student chooses a lease which ends before they turn 18, they will be required to sign a second agreement at a later date or choose a different accommodation option to move to.
