Devision of Fuels
Our mission is in field of “Natural and alternative gaseous and liquid fuels, and lubricants” and “Natural and alternative solid fuels, and novel carbon materials”.
The division is devoted to studies and education in energy resources and high technologies, which are among the research and educational priorities of Bulgaria.
 BSc. students enter the Department at the beginning of the 6-th semester and are educated either in the module “Natural and alternative fuel”.
Masters are educated in “Natural and synthetic fuels” .
PhD students are trained in the fields in which the academic staff of the Department has scientific competence - “Technology of natural and synthetic fuels”.

Fuel processing technology;
Developing alternative fuels, lubricants and additives;
Producing of biofuels;
Producing of eco friendly fuels;
Characterization of fuel by instrumental methods;
Application of NMR analysis in fuel and oil chemistry;
Producing of adsorbents (active carbon) from biomass

Development of new technological approaches to improve the quality of valuable products of petroleum refining processes;
Utilization of biomass and production of low-value production;
The development of alternative fuels and additives (such as biodiesel);
Development alternative methods for purification (desulfurization and dearomatization).
Preparation of porous carbonaceous material from biomass;
