This review does not spoil the ending of the musical. In “Love Never Dies”, Christine eventually reveals that her son, Gustave, is actually the Phantom’s son, not Raoul’s. Christine reunites with Meg, who is happy to see her at first. However, Meg’s obsessive love for the Phantom mirrors his obsessive love for Christine, even though he has treated her poorly and ignored her talents in favor of Christine for 10 years. In the final scene of the musical Meg confronts the Phantom with a gun. When the Phantom tries to take it from her, she accidentally shoots and kills Christine.
